Panasonic introduces smart home monitoring camera

Panasonic today announced an entry into the smart home security market with the new Panasonic KX-HNC800B HD Home Monitoring Camera.

It’s a full HD 1080p camera, that the company boast “captures smooth, movie-quality video” at 30 frames per second. A 142-degree diagonal wide-angle view ensures a comprehensive field of view. The new device supports real-time monitoring from iOS and Android devices, sound and motion alerts, plus local recording to a microSD/SDHC/SDXC card for playback on a smartphone, tablet, laptop or PC.

An innovative pre-recording feature ensures video imaging actually begins two seconds before the camera’s motion sensor activates the recording process. it means that the camera is able to capture someone walking quickly through an entire room or space, not after they’re halfway through it. Like some competitors, the camera features a privacy shutter that slides over the lens when required. Once covered, camera and microphone functions are fully disabled.

The Panasonic KX-HNC800B is available at Amazon.com for $199.95 and is available now.
