Networking specialist ARRIS today announced that their upcoming range of ARRIS Secure Home Gateway lines will be protected by the McAfee Secure Home Platform, which is developed by Intel Security.
We’ve previously seen router manufacturers such as ASUS and Amped Wireless partner with Internet security vendors. However, ARRIS claims to be the first to integrate the McAfee Secure Home Platform by Intel Security. Each gateway in the new SURFboard Secure Home Gateway portfolio will include McAfee Secure Home Internet branding, starting with the ARRIS SURFboard SBG7580-AC, the first model to be released.
The feature supports network level security for both the gateway and connected devices on the network, identifying and protecting users from viruses, malware, and phishing scams. A simple-to-use mobile app will allow for customization and management of home gateway security settings.
Features will include:
- Smart security: Hassle-free protection uses the cloud to protect internet-connected devices in the home against the latest malware and phishing and identity scams.
- Seamless app management: Access and manage features including IoT device protection, device identification, and pausing internet access. Receive real-time alerts about potential vulnerabilities, new connected devices entering the home, and more.
- Robust parental controls: Easily protect your whole family by setting individual schedules and restrictions for every device and user in your home.
The new ARRIS SURFboard SBG7580-AC with McAfee Secure Home Internet is expected to ship in the first half of 2017 and will be available at retail from Amazon, Best Buy and other outlets. It combines a DOCSIS 3.0 modem, 802.11AC Wi-Fi Router with internet download speeds up to 1.4 Gbps and Wi-Fi speeds up to 1750 Mbps. A free online app, ARRIS McAfee Secure Home Internet, will be made available at Google Play and Apple’s iOS store which will allow users to activate the enhanced security suite.
