A new addition to the Sabertooth line has been introduced with the designation ASUS TUF Sabertooth Z170 S. The all black aesthetic has been swapped out for some very sleek arctic digital camo with a few other visible differences.
The Z170S now has bright white LEDs in the ‘armoured cockpit’-inspired Q-LED, versus the orange LEDs in the Z170 Mark 1 from a few months ago.
One interesting aspect from the Mark 1 that is missing now is ASUS’ Thermal Armour.
The Z170 S includes some of ASUS’ cooling technologies including:
- TUF ICe – a dedicated processor for monitoring the temperature and fan speeds
- Thermal Radar 2 – allows for up to 11 fans to be connected and monitors the temperature of the graphics card and provides the user the ability to manually optimize the cooling
- TUF Detective 2 – a smartphone and tablet application that allows the user to detect and diagnose errors as well as control the fans wirelessly from the app
It appears to have the same back-panel connectors as it’s predecessor but we can’t be certain regarding all of the specs at the moment.
The new motherboard comes in at a slightly lower price point than the Mark 1 at £163.37 and will be available from the middle of January in the UK.
