CES 2013: Netgear’s Universal Dual Band WiFi Range Extender Enhances Network Coverage, Streams Music to Any Speaker

Netgear’s convergence mission continues at CES 2013, with the launch of the WN3500RP, or rather the Universal Dual Band WiFi Range Extender, Wall-plug Edition as it’s known to its friends.

The device is your standard Wi-Fi range extender, slotting into a power socket and relaying your router’s wireless signal to the farthest reaches of your home. But this extender has an additional trick up it’s sleeve – a 3.5mm jack allows you to connect any speakers to the extender, enabling you to stream music digitally from your PC, Mac or other device straight to your audio player.

2.5 and 5 GHz 802.11 a/b/g/n bands are available for optimal wireless connections to your router, as well as a 10/100 Ethernet socket, USB 2.0 port for printer sharing and on board DLNA media renderer.

The Netgear Universal Dual Band Wi-Fi Range Extender – Wall-Plug Edition (WN3500RP-100NAS) is available now at Amazon for $99.99 ($129.99 MSRP).
